The Mar Menor
This region of Spain is situated on the Costa Calida , and is on the South East coast. It is in the driest region of Spain and enjoys an average of 320 days of sunshine a year. It is therefore ideal for a Winter break as well as a Summer holiday with Golf available all year round.
Recently the World Health organisation declared this area as having the cleanest air in Europe
La Manga del Mar Menor is a double delight in the heart of two seas, a strip of land 21 kilometers in length with 42 kilometers of ‘Blue Flag’ golden sandy beaches with the Mar Menor side never more than 8 meters deep and reaches 30c in the summer. The Mar Menor offers the largest therapeutic open air mud bath in Europe. The mud is well known for its many minerals. It is recommended for skin problems, rheumatism, arthritis, throat infections and rehabilitation.
The area has its own Airport – Murcia (San Javier) which is only 20 minutes away from Mar de Cristal. Alicante airport is less than an hours drive. Both airports are serviced by the budget airlines from 19 regional UK airports. The flight time is just over 2 hours.
