Our Place In The Sun : Mar de Cristal – Costa Calida

What to do

  • Sailing – The Mar Menor is a natural maritime arena catering for
sportsmen and women of all levels in the warm, safe waters. There are
numerous sailing, canoeing and diving clubs. We have teamed up with an
English couple who run a tuition and boat rental centre nearby and can
arrange sailing, windsurfing or canoeing on demand.
  • Diving – There are some rocky points that appear above sea level and a
short distance from Cabo de Palos, this has created a Marine reserve. On
your journey you could see octopuses and sunken vessels that appear at a
depth of 30 meters A diving school is situated on the road to the lighthouse
at Cabo de Palos, which is at the start of the La Manga strip.
  • Walking & Cycling – The area around the Mar Menor is relatively flat and
has numerous rustic villages along its coastline.
  • Go-karting – 5 minutes drive away.
  • Tennis – There are Tennis courts within a five minute walk in the
village, or at La Manga golf club.
  • Swimming Either in the pool or the nearby Mar Menor
  • Golf – This part of Spain is suitable for Golf nearly all year round
with over 300 days of sunshine per year and the humidity is very low.
  • Horse riding – Located near to La Manga golf, you can venture on a 13km
journey across terraced fields, over rocks and through the natural beaches
of Calblanque. On your journey you may want to stop and visit the coves of
    Cabo Negrete.
  • Shopping – There are various markets in the neighboring villages which
all sell a mix of fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, household goods which
include pictures, curtains, ornaments and kitchen items i.e. pots, pans,
    cutlery, glasses.
  • Chilling out – On the balcony with a nice bottle of ‘Red’ and a few
